The story, sets in and around New York City, follows the sexually charged adventures of Dr. Bill Harford, who is shocked when his wife, Alice, reveals that she had contemplated an affair a year earlier. تدور أحداث الفيلم حول الطبيب بيل هارفورد وزوجته أليس اللذان يعيشان في مدينة نيو يورك مع ابنتهما الصغيرة هيلينا. وفي إحدى الليالي بعد حفلة الكريسماسة تعترف أليس لزوجها أنها خانته في إحدى الأيام مع ضابط. بعدها يبدأ بيل مغامراته الليلية التي توصله إلى حفلة جنس جماعي لجماعة سرية غير معروفة.
